Commonly occurring chromosome related syndromes are down syndrome(trisomy 21),edword(trisomy 18) and patau"s syndrome(trisimy 13).if the baby comes with this syndomes it will be social burden to the society and the parents .screening is not 100% identifying the conditions but definitely helping for the 95% cases.so one should go for screening scan at 11 to 14 weeks of pregnancy. this is the perfect timing for screening. as per the standards of fetal medicine foundation evaluation of the risk is done in consideration of the mother age and the sonography markers,and then come the overall risk to go for the further diagnostics or invasive procedures.screening scan is only done in this period that is 11 to14 weeks of pregnancy.if this piriod is missed the risk calculation will not be there |
